The total number of attendance possible each year is 190 days- 380 half day sessions. The total attendance for each child is recorded on his/her end of year report. The school rewards good attendance in a variety of ways; such as certificates, assemblies and rewards.
We can only authorise holidays in term-time in exceptional circumstances. The children miss valuable periods of education and it may be difficult for them to make up for lost time. During important parts of the school year for example during SATs, it is vitally important that the children are in school. A School Holiday Request Form must be completed and these are available from the school office.
If your child is ill, please inform the school on the first day of absence. Information about some common childhood ailments can be found on the school website.
In case of broken limbs or injuries requiring crutches, please contact the school office before your child returns to school. Each case will be dealt with on an individual basis, taking into account your child's age, agility and medical advice.
Illness at school
Occasionally children become Ill at school and it is necessary for us to contact parents. It is very important that the school is informed of home and work telephone numbers and other emergency contacts. This enables us to take swift and appropriate action and avoid unnecessary distress to a child who is already suffering. Please notify the school immediately in the event of any change in these arrangements, e.g. new address, change of work, etc.
Most appointments can be made out of school time. If an appointment is unavoidable then please inform the school office ahead of time. Appointments at the end of the school day are less disruptive to your child's education.
If there is a need for your child to take medication, please discuss with the prescribing practitioner whether dose frequencies can be taken outside of school hours. If this is not possible and your child is fit for school in all other ways please contact the school office.
Please do not send medicines of any kind to school with the children without prior notice. Parents are welcome to come to school to administer medicines to their child during the day.
In case of children who are asthmatic, please provide an inhaler to be kept in school on a permanent basis.
